Clan MacKenzie

The Clan MacKenzie (Gaelic: Clann MhicCoinnich, meaning “Son of Coinneach” or “Son of the Fair One”) is one of the most famous Highland clans of Scotland. Rising to power in the 15th and 16th centuries, the MacKenzies became great landholders in Ross-shire and the northwest Highlands, with their seat at Castle Leod. They played a pivotal role in Scottish history, known for political skill, loyalty to the Crown, and enduring Highland pride.
