The MacIntoshes trace their origins to the 12th century and became the principal family of the powerful Clan Chattan Confederation — an alliance of Highland clans that held great influence in the central Highlands. Known for loyalty, leadership, and martial strength, the MacIntosh name remains one of the most respected in Highland history.

War Cry

The traditional war cry is “Loch Moigh”, referring to their ancestral lands in Inverness-shire and a rallying call in times of conflict.

Clan Septs

Associated families and septs of Clan MacIntosh include Clark, Dallas, MacCard, MacComas, MacGillivray, MacGlashan, MacPhail, Shaw, and others who shared allegiance within the Clan Chattan Confederation.

The MacIntosh tartan is a rich sett of red and black with green and yellow overchecks, reflecting the bold Highland spirit and proud legacy of the clan.
