SCOTTISH CLAN CREST SGIAN DUBH

Introducing the exquisite Sgian Dubh, a traditional Scottish knife featuring a striking black handle, beautifully customizable with your Clan crest crafted from lead-free pewter or premium sterling silver.

This stunning Sgian Dubh measures 7-1/2 inches in length and 1-3/8 inches in width, boasting a durable stainless steel blade complemented by nickel silver plated fittings. The top of the knife is adorned with a synthetic stone available in imitation topaz, sapphire blue, or emerald green.

The Clan crest is elegantly encircled by an intricate belt and buckle motif, featuring your clan motto inscribed in raised relief lettering. Historically, the chief of the Clan would present this crest to his clansmen, symbolizing their loyalty and belonging to the Clan. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted in fine detail, with the Clan Crest measuring 11/16" (19.5mm) in diameter.

Kindly note that each Sgian Dubh is made to order, typically taking only a few days to complete. We offer every Clan, so be sure to include your Clan name in the comments section when placing your order. This well-crafted Sgian Dubh features a resin handle and sheath, with plated fittings. Unlike a genuine old Sgian Dubh with sterling silver fittings, which can cost over $1,000, this piece serves as an economical alternative.

THE ORIGIN OF THE "SGIAN DUBH"
The term Sgian Dubh, translating to "Black Knife" in Gaelic, is believed to stem from the knife's dark aesthetic, as early handles were often hand-carved from black bog wood, while the blades darkened with age and use.
Another theory suggests its name is derived from the concealed nature of this weapon, which is why it is typically worn visibly atop the stocking when donning Highland attire, signaling that the wearer is among friends and harbors no harmful intentions.
It is important to emphasize that the Sgian Dubh is not considered a weapon!
