SCOTTISH CLAN CREST SGIAN DUBH

Introducing the exquisite Sgian Dubh, a traditional Scottish knife featuring a striking black handle, now available with your Clan crest crafted from lead-free pewter or premium sterling silver.

This stunning Sgian Dubh measures 7-1/2 inches in length and 1-3/8 inches in width, complemented by a durable stainless steel blade and elegant nickel silver plated fittings. At the top, you can choose from an imitation topaz, sapphire blue, or emerald green synthetic stone to enhance its beauty.

Adorning the Clan crest is a meticulously designed belt and buckle motif, which proudly displays your clan motto in raised relief lettering. Historically, Clan chiefs presented their crests to clansmen as a mark of loyalty and Clan affiliation. Each piece is handcrafted with exceptional detail in sterling silver, with the Clan Crest measuring 11/16" (19.5mm) in diameter.

This item is made to order and typically ships within a few days. We cater to every Clan, so please include your Clan name in the comments section when placing your order. While this Sgian Dubh is crafted with quality in mind, it features a resin handle and sheath with plated fittings. In comparison, a genuine antique Sgian Dubh with solid silver fittings can fetch over $1,000.00, making this piece an affordable alternative.

THE ORIGIN OF THE "SGIAN DUBH"
The term Sgian Dubh, which translates to "Black Knife" in Gaelic, is believed to have originated from the knife's dark aesthetic—historically, handles were carved from black bog wood, and blades would darken with use over time.
Another theory suggests it reflects the weapon's concealed nature, traditionally worn visible at the top of the stocking while donning Highland attire, signaling to others that the wearer bears no ill will and is among friends.
It is essential to note that the Sgian Dubh has never been intended to serve as a weapon!
