🗡️ The Origin of the Sgian Dubh

The term “Sgian Dubh” (Gaelic for Black Knife) likely arose from its dark appearance — early handles were carved from black bog wood, and the blades darkened with age.
Another theory suggests its name came from the concealed nature of the knife. Today, tradition dictates that the Sgian Dubh be worn visibly in the top of the Highland stocking, signifying friendship and good faith.

⚠️ Note: The Sgian Dubh was not, is not, and should never be considered a weapon — it is a symbol of heritage and honor.
