🗡️ The Origin of the Sgian Dubh

The term “Sgian Dubh” (Gaelic for “Black Knife”) is believed to originate from the knife’s dark appearance — early handles were carved from black bog wood, and the blade darkened with age and use.

Another tradition holds that the Sgian Dubh’s name derives from its role as a concealed knife. To demonstrate goodwill and peace among friends, Highlanders began wearing it openly in the stocking top, symbolizing honor and trust.

The Sgian Dubh was never intended as a weapon — it remains a symbol of Scottish heritage, craftsmanship, and courtesy.

⚒️ Made to Order with Care
