SCOTTISH CLAN CREST SGIAN DUBH

Discover the elegance of the Sgian Dubh, a traditional Scottish knife featuring a striking black handle and your Clan crest crafted in lead-free pewter or luxurious sterling silver.

Measuring 7-1/2 inches in length and 1-3/8 inches in width, this newly designed Sgian Dubh boasts a stainless steel blade complemented by nickel silver plated fittings. Adorning the top is a captivating synthetic stone available in imitation topaz, sapphire blue, or emerald green.

The intricate Clan crest is encircled by a detailed belt and buckle motif, with your clan motto elegantly inscribed in raised relief lettering. Historically, Clan chiefs presented their crests to clansmen as a symbol of loyalty and Clan allegiance. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted in sterling silver, with the Clan Crest measuring 11/16" (19.5mm) in diameter.

Please keep in mind that this item is made to order, typically taking only a few days to complete. We can accommodate any Clan, so be sure to include your Clan name in the comments section when placing your order. This Sgian Dubh is crafted with care, featuring a resin handle and sheath, while the fittings are plated. For reference, an authentic antique Sgian Dubh with sterling silver fittings can exceed $1,000, making this piece an affordable alternative.

THE ORIGIN OF THE "SGIAN DUBH"
The Sgian Dubh, translating to "Black Knife" in Gaelic, has origins tied to its dark appearance. Historically, handles were often carved from black bog wood, and the blades would darken with age and use.
Another theory suggests its name comes from its nature as a concealed weapon, leading to the tradition of displaying the Sgian Dubh atop the stocking while dressed in Highland attire—signifying friendship and good intentions.
It is essential to understand that the Sgian Dubh is not a weapon—it is a symbol of heritage and tradition!
