SCOTTISH CLAN CREST SGIAN DUBH

Introducing our exquisite Sgian Dubh, a traditional Scottish knife featuring a striking black handle, customizable with your Clan crest crafted from lead-free pewter or fine sterling silver.

This newly designed Sgian Dubh measures 7-1/2” in length and 1-3/8” in width, equipped with a stainless steel blade and fittings plated in nickel silver. The knife's top showcases a choice of synthetic stones: imitation topaz, sapphire blue, or emerald green, adding a touch of elegance to its design.

The Clan crest is elegantly framed by an intricate belt and buckle motif, featuring your clan motto in raised relief lettering. Historically, the Clan chief would present his crest to clansmen as a token of loyalty and Clan identity. Each Sgian Dubh is meticulously handcrafted in sterling silver, with the Clan Crest measuring 11/16" (19.5mm) in diameter.

Please note that this item is made to order and typically ships within a few days. All Clans are available. To personalize your order, kindly include your Clan name in the comment section during checkout. Although this Sgian Dubh is crafted with quality materials, its handle and sheath are made of resin, and the fittings are plated. A genuine antique Sgian Dubh with sterling silver fittings can exceed $1,000, making this an economical alternative.

THE ORIGIN OF THE "SGIAN DUBH"
The term Sgian Dubh, which translates to Black Knife in Gaelic, is believed to stem from the knife's dark appearance. Traditionally, the handles were hand-carved from black bog wood, and the blades would darken with use over time.
Another theory suggests its name relates to the concealed nature of the weapon, which is why it is customarily displayed atop the stocking when wearing Highland attire, signifying the wearer is among friends and harbors no ill intentions.
It is important to emphasize that the Sgian Dubh is not considered a weapon.

With over four decades of experience in the Scottish Clan crest industry, our company is proud to create Clan jewelry for the children and grandchildren of our initial customers.
