SCOTTISH CLAN CREST SGIAN DUBH

Discover the elegance of the Sgian Dubh, a traditional Scottish knife featuring a stunning black handle, adorned with your Clan crest crafted from lead-free pewter or exquisite sterling silver.

This newly designed Sgian Dubh measures 7-1/2” in length and 1-3/8” in width, equipped with a durable stainless steel blade and fittings that are nickel silver plated. The knife's top is accented with a choice of synthetic stones: imitation topaz, sapphire blue, or emerald green.

Each Clan crest is elegantly encircled by a meticulously detailed belt and buckle motif, proudly displaying your clan motto in raised relief. Historically, the Clan chief would offer his crest to clansmen as a mark of loyalty and Clan identity. Every piece is handcrafted with precision, showcasing the Clan Crest at a diameter of 11/16" (19.5mm).

This item is made to order, typically taking only a few days to be completed. We cater to every Clan, so please include your Clan name in the comment section during your order. While this Sgian Dubh is a well-crafted piece with a resin handle and sheath, it's important to note that genuine antique Sgian Dubhs with sterling silver fittings can retail for over $1,000. This version serves as an economical alternative.

THE ORIGIN OF THE "SGIAN DUBH"
The term Sgian Dubh, which translates to "Black Knife" in Gaelic, is believed to have originated from the knife's dark aesthetics—historically, its handles were carved from black bog wood, while the blade darkened with age and use. Another theory suggests its name comes from its concealed nature, traditionally tucked into the top of a stocking as a sign of friendship and goodwill, rather than hostility. The Sgian Dubh is not a weapon, nor should it be regarded as such!

With over four decades of experience in the Scottish Clan crest industry, our company now proudly creates Clan jewelry for the next generation, serving the children and grandchildren of our valued customers.
