This stunning Sgian Dubh is a classic Scottish knife featuring a black handle and is customizable with your Clan crest, available in both lead-free pewter and fine sterling silver.

With dimensions of 7-1/2” in length and 1-3/8” in width, this elegant Sgian Dubh is equipped with a durable stainless steel blade and nickel silver-plated fittings. The handle is embellished with an imitation stone, which can be chosen in topaz, sapphire blue, or emerald green.

The Clan crest is beautifully framed by an intricate belt and buckle motif, complete with your Clan motto inscribed in raised relief. Traditionally, Clan chiefs presented these crests as emblems of loyalty and affiliation to their Clansmen. Understanding the Origin of the Sgian Dubh
The term “Sgian Dubh” translates from Gaelic to “Black Knife” and is thought to derive from the knife’s dark appearance—historically, the handles were made from black bog wood, and the blade would become darker over time with use. Another interpretation is linked to its traditional concealment in the top of the stocking, symbolizing friendship and the absence of malice. The Sgian Dubh has always represented a symbol of camaraderie rather than a weapon.
