Discover our exceptional Scottish Clan Crest Sgian Dubh, expertly crafted by The Sgian Dubh Company in Scotland, a brand celebrated for delivering the finest Sgian Dubhs available on the market. Each knife is elegantly presented in a rich blue box, proudly marked "Made in Scotland."
This stunning Sgian Dubh showcases a classic black handle and can be customized with your Clan Crest in lead-free pewter or exquisite sterling silver. Measuring 7 1/2” (190 mm) in length and 1 3/8” (35 mm) in width, it features a durable stainless steel blade complemented by nickel silver-plated fittings. The top is beautifully embellished with your choice of imitation glass stone: blue sapphire, emerald green, or purple amethyst—please select your desired color at the time of order.
The Clan Crest is elegantly framed by an intricate belt and buckle motif, with your Clan motto elegantly inscribed in raised relief lettering. Each piece is painstakingly handcrafted, with the Clan Crest itself measuring 11/16" (19.5 mm) in diameter. Traditionally, Clan Chiefs bestowed these crests upon Clansmen as enduring symbols of loyalty and connection.
This premium Sgian Dubh is constructed with a resin handle and sheath, paired with high-quality plated metal fittings. While antique genuine Sgian Dubhs with sterling silver fittings can command prices exceeding $1,000.00, our superior model provides remarkable quality at a more reasonable price point.
Please note that this item is made to order and typically requires a few days for production. We proudly offer Sgian Dubh options for all Scottish Clans.
The Origin of the Sgian Dubh:
The term "Sgian Dubh" translates to "Black Knife" in Gaelic, likely referring to the knife's dark appearance, as early handles were crafted from black bog wood and blades would darken with age. Another interpretation suggests that the name signifies the knife's hidden nature, traditionally worn in the stocking as an indication that the wearer is among friends and harbors no ill intentions. The Sgian Dubh is regarded as a traditional accessory rather than a weapon.
