This brand new Sgian Dubh measures 7-1/2” long by 1-3/8” wide and features a stainless steel blade with nickel silver-plated fittings. At the top, you'll find an imitation topaz, sapphire blue, or emerald green synthetic stone adding a touch of elegance.
Each Sgian Dubh showcases your Clan crest, surrounded by a detailed belt and buckle design, with your Clan motto delicately inscribed in raised relief lettering. The name "Sgian Dubh," Gaelic for Black Knife, likely originated from the knife's dark appearance, with early handles often hand-carved from black bog wood and the blade becoming dark through use and age. Another theory suggests it arose from the dark or sinister nature of an easily concealed weapon, though it should not be considered as such. In Highland attire, it is traditionally worn in the top of the stocking to show that its wearer is among friends and has no ill intent.
