Introducing the beautiful Sgian Dubh, a traditional Scottish black-handled knife, available adorned with your Clan crest in lead-free pewter or fine sterling silver.

This brand new Sgian Dubh measures 7-1/2” long by 1-3/8” wide, featuring a stainless steel blade and nickel silver plated fittings. The top is adorned with an imitation topaz, sapphire blue, or emerald green synthetic stone, adding to its elegance.

Encased within a detailed belt and buckle design, your Clan crest is proudly displayed, with your clan motto inscribed in raised relief lettering—a tradition dating back to the days when Clan chiefs presented their crest to Clansmen as a symbol of loyalty and affiliation. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted in high detail in sterling silver, with the Clan Crest measuring 11/16" (19.5mm) in diameter.

Please note that this item is made to order but typically takes only a few days. Every Clan is available—simply add your Clan name in the comment area when ordering.

While this Sgian Dubh is exquisitely made, it features a resin material handle and sheath with plated fittings, making it an economy model. Genuine old Sgian Dubhs with sterling silver fittings can sell for over $1,000.00.

The name "Sgian Dubh" (Gaelic for Black Knife) is thought to have originated from its dark appearance—early handles were often hand-carved from black bog wood, and the blade would darken with use and age. Another theory suggests its name reflects the dark or sinister nature of an easily concealed weapon. However, it's important to note that the Sgian Dubh was not, is not, and should not be considered a weapon!

With over forty years of experience in the Scottish Clan crest business, we take pride in crafting Clan jewelry for generations to come, ensuring your heritage is celebrated with grace and tradition.
