Livingstone Clan — History, Crest, Motto, Septs, Tartan

Celebrate your Livingstone heritage with authentic details drawn from Scottish tradition.

History & Origins
The Livingstone clan takes its name from the lands of Livingstone in West Lothian. The family rose to prominence in the medieval Lowlands, later gaining strong connections to the Highland MacLea family of Argyll. In the 17th century, the names Livingstone and MacLea were formally linked, and today the clan is officially recognized as Clan MacLea, also known as the Livingstones of Bachuil. The chiefs of this clan are the hereditary keepers of the Bachuil Mor, the ancient crozier of Saint Moluag, one of the earliest Christian missionaries to Scotland.
