SCOTTISH CLAN CREST HIGHER QUALITY SGIAN DUBH

Introducing the exquisite Sgian Dubh, crafted by The Sgian Dubh Company in Scotland, renowned for producing the finest quality sgian dubh available today. Each piece is elegantly presented in a premium blue box, proudly labeled as "Made in Scotland."

This stunning Sgian Dubh, a traditional Scottish knife featuring a black handle, can be customized with your Clan crest in lead-free pewter or fine sterling silver. All Clans are represented. As our premium offering, this sgian dubh is beautifully constructed, with a handle and sheath composed of durable resin and adorned with plated metal fittings. While antique genuine sgian dubhs with sterling silver fittings can sell for over $1,000, we offer a more accessible alternative—just inquire for details.

Measuring 7 1/2” (190 mm) in length and 1 3/8” (35 mm) in width, this newly crafted Sgian Dubh features a stainless steel blade and nickel silver plated fittings. The top is embellished with an imitation glass stone, available in blue sapphire, emerald green, or purple amethyst—choose your preferred color when placing your order.

The intricate design includes a Clan crest encircled by an ornate belt and buckle motif, showcasing your clan motto in raised relief lettering. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted in sterling silver with exceptional attention to detail. The Clan Crest has a diameter of 11/16" (19.5 mm). Historically, the chief of the Clan would present this crest to his clansmen as a symbol of loyalty and Clan affiliation.

Kindly note that this item is made to order, requiring a few days for creation. We cater to every Clan, ensuring you find your perfect match.

THE ORIGIN OF THE "SGIAN DUBH"

The origins of the term "Sgian Dubh," which translates to Black Knife in Gaelic, are believed to be linked to the knife's dark appearance—early handles were often carved from black bog wood, and the blades would darken with age and usage. Another theory suggests that its name stems from its nature as a concealed weapon, which is why it has become customary to wear the Sgian Dubh visibly at the top of the stocking while donning Highland attire, signifying friendship and good intentions.

The Sgian Dubh is not a weapon, nor should it ever be regarded as one!

With over 43 years of experience in the Scottish Clan crest industry, our company proudly continues to create Clan jewelry for the children and grandchildren of our original customers.
