SCOTTISH CLAN CREST SGIAN DUBH

Introducing the exquisite Sgian Dubh, a traditional Scottish knife characterized by its striking black handle, now available with your Clan crest crafted from lead-free pewter or luxurious sterling silver.

This elegant Sgian Dubh measures 7-1/2 inches in length and 1-3/8 inches in width, featuring a stainless steel blade complemented by nickel silver plated fittings. At the top, you can choose from a stunning imitation topaz, sapphire blue, or emerald green synthetic stone.

The Clan crest is intricately encircled by a decorative belt and buckle motif, with your clan motto elegantly inscribed in raised relief. Historically, the chief of the Clan would bestow this crest upon his clansmen as a testament to their loyalty and Clan connection. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted with high attention to detail in sterling silver, and the Clan Crest measures 11/16 inch (19.5mm) in diameter.

Kindly note that while this item is made to order, it typically requires only a few days for completion. All Clan designs are available. To personalize your order, please include your Clan name in the comments section during checkout. This Sgian Dubh is expertly crafted, though the handle and sheath are made of resin material and the fittings are plated. Authentic antique Sgian Dubhs with sterling silver fittings can command prices exceeding $1,000, making this an accessible, economy model.

THE ORIGIN OF THE "SGIAN DUBH"
The name Sgian Dubh, which translates to "Black Knife" in Gaelic, is believed to have originated from the knife's dark aesthetic—early handles were often carved from black bog wood, and the blade would darken with age and use.
Another theory suggests that the name stems from the weapon's concealed nature, prompting the tradition of displaying the Sgian Dubh atop the stocking when wearing Highland attire, signaling that the wearer is among friends and harbors no ill intentions.
It is important to note that the Sgian Dubh is not a weapon, nor should it be perceived as such!
