SCOTTISH CLAN CREST SGIAN DUBH

Introducing the exquisite Sgian Dubh, a traditional Scottish knife featuring a stunning black handle and customizable with your Clan crest, crafted from lead-free pewter or fine sterling silver.

This meticulously designed Sgian Dubh measures 7-1/2 inches in length and 1-3/8 inches in width, boasting a stainless steel blade complemented by nickel silver plated fittings. At the top, you can choose from a striking imitation topaz, sapphire blue, or emerald green synthetic stone to personalize your piece.

The Clan crest is elegantly encircled by a detailed belt and buckle motif, showcasing your clan motto inscribed in raised relief lettering. Historically, this emblem was bestowed by the Clan chief upon his clansmen, symbolizing their loyalty and affiliation. Each Sgian Dubh is expertly handcrafted with high attention to detail in sterling silver, with the Clan Crest measuring 11/16 inches (19.5mm) in diameter.

Kindly note that this item is made to order and typically requires only a few days for production. All Clan designs are available. To finalize your special request, please include your Clan name in the comments section during the ordering process. While this Sgian Dubh is crafted with quality, the handle and sheath are made from resin material, and the fittings are plated. In contrast, a genuine vintage Sgian Dubh featuring sterling silver fittings can cost over $1,000, making this an affordable alternative.

THE ORIGIN OF THE "SGIAN DUBH"
The name Sgian Dubh, translating to "Black Knife" in Gaelic, is believed to derive from the dark appearance of this knife, as early handles were often carved from black bog wood and the blades would darken over time. Another theory suggests that it refers to the concealed nature of the weapon, which is why tradition dictates that the Sgian Dubh is worn visibly at the top of the stocking in Highland attire, signifying that the wearer is among friends and bears no malicious intent.
It is essential to note that the Sgian Dubh is not, and should not be regarded as a weapon!
