SCOTTISH CLAN CREST SGIAN DUBH

Introducing our exquisite Sgian Dubh, a traditional Scottish knife featuring a striking black handle, elegantly adorned with your Clan crest crafted from lead-free pewter or fine sterling silver.

This brand new Sgian Dubh measures 7-1/2 inches in length and 1-3/8 inches in width, showcasing a durable stainless steel blade complemented by nickel silver plated fittings. At the top, you can choose from a stunning imitation topaz, sapphire blue, or emerald green synthetic gemstone.

Each Clan crest is beautifully encircled by a detailed belt and buckle motif, which prominently displays your clan motto in raised relief lettering. Historically, the chief of the Clan would grant his crest to the clansmen, symbolizing their loyalty and affiliation. Every piece is meticulously handcrafted with an emphasis on high detail in sterling silver, with the Clan Crest measuring 11/16" (19.5mm) in diameter.

Kindly note that this item is made to order and typically requires less than a few days for completion. We accommodate every Clan, so please ensure to include your Clan name in the comments section when placing your order. While this Sgian Dubh is crafted with care, please be aware that the handle and sheath are made from resin, with the fittings being plated. In contrast, a "genuine" vintage Sgian Dubh with solid silver fittings can fetch prices exceeding $1,000.00. This version offers a more economical alternative.

THE ORIGIN OF THE "SGIAN DUBH"
The term Sgian Dubh, translating to "Black Knife" in Gaelic, likely derives from the dark aesthetic of this knife—historically, the handles were often hand-carved from black bog wood, and the blades would darken with age and usage. Another theory suggests that the name reflects the concealed nature of the weapon, which is why it is traditionally displayed prominently at the top of the stocking when wearing Highland dress, signaling the wearer's friendly intentions.
It is important to emphasize that the Sgian Dubh is not, and should not be regarded as, a weapon!
