SCOTTISH CLAN CREST SGIAN DUBH

This exquisite Sgian Dubh, a traditional Scottish knife with a distinctive black handle, is offered with your Clan crest crafted in lead-free pewter or premium sterling silver.

Measuring 7-1/2” in length and 1-3/8” in width, this newly designed Sgian Dubh features a stainless steel blade accompanied by nickel silver plated fittings. The top is adorned with your choice of an imitation topaz, sapphire blue, or emerald green synthetic stone.

The Clan crest is elegantly encircled by a meticulously detailed belt and buckle motif, which showcases your clan motto in raised relief lettering. Historically, the chief of the Clan granted this crest to his clansmen as a mark of their loyalty and allegiance to the Clan. Each piece is masterfully handcrafted with intricate detailing in sterling silver, and the Clan Crest measures 11/16" (19.5mm) in diameter.

Please note that this item is made to order and typically takes just a few days to produce. All Clan designs are available. To finalize your unique order, simply include your Clan name in the comments section when placing your order. While this Sgian Dubh is well-crafted, it features a resin handle and sheath with plated fittings. In contrast, a "genuine" vintage Sgian Dubh with sterling silver fittings often retails for over $1,000.00, making this an accessible alternative.

THE ORIGIN OF THE "SGIAN DUBH"
The term Sgian Dubh, meaning "Black Knife" in Gaelic, is believed to have originated due to the knife's dark appearance; early handles were typically hand-carved from black bog wood, and the blades would darken with age and use.
Another theory suggests the name comes from the weapon's concealed nature, which is why it is traditionally worn visibly atop the stocking when donning Highland attire—to signify that the wearer is among friends and has no malicious intent.
It is important to note that the Sgian Dubh is not, has never been, and should not be regarded as a weapon!
