The Origin of the Sgian Dubh
The name “Sgian Dubh” translates from Gaelic as Black Knife. Traditionally, handles were carved from black bog wood and blades darkened with use, giving rise to its name. Another theory links the name to its concealed nature, though it is traditionally worn in plain sight at the top of the stocking as part of Highland attire, signaling friendship and goodwill.
⚠ Note: The Sgian Dubh is a ceremonial accessory and is not intended for use as a weapon.
Expertly crafted in Scotland, the Clan Crest Higher Quality Sgian Dubh is more than an accessory—it is a symbol of heritage, pride, and Highland tradition.
