This stunning sgian dubh, a traditional Scottish knife with a black handle, can be customized with your Clan crest made from lead-free pewter or fine sterling silver. With options available for all Clans, this high-end sgian dubh is elegantly packaged in a blue presentation box. Constructed with a durable handle and sheath made from resin and adorned with plated metal fittings, this piece is a significant upgrade from antique sgian dubhs with sterling silver fittings, which can exceed $1,000.00.

Measuring 7 1/2” (190 mm) in length and 1 3/8” (35 mm) in width, this brand new sgian dubh features a stainless steel blade complemented by nickel silver plated fittings. The top is embellished with a choice of an imitation glass stone—blue sapphire, emerald green, or purple amethyst. Be sure to select your preferred color at the time of ordering.

The Clan crest is beautifully encircled by an intricate belt and buckle design, with your clan motto elegantly inscribed in raised relief lettering. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted in sterling silver, with the Clan Crest measuring 11/16" (19.5 mm) in diameter. Historically, the chief of the Clan would bestow the crest upon his clansmen, symbolizing loyalty and affiliation with the Clan.

THE ORIGIN OF THE "SGIAN DUBH"

The term Sgian Dubh, meaning "Black Knife" in Gaelic, is believed to have originated from the dark appearance of this knife; early handles were often intricately carved from black bog wood, while the blades would develop a dark patina over time.
