The Clan crest is elegantly encircled by a detailed belt and buckle motif, featuring your clan motto in raised relief lettering. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted with exceptional attention to detail in sterling silver, with the Clan Crest measuring 11/16" (19.5 mm) in diameter. Please note that this item is made to order and requires a few days for production. All Clans are represented in our offerings.
THE ORIGIN OF THE "SGIAN DUBH"
The term "Sgian Dubh," meaning Black Knife in Gaelic, is believed to have originated from the knife's dark aesthetics—early handles were commonly carved from black bog wood, and the blades would darken over time with use and age. Another theory suggests it reflects the concealed nature of this knife, which is why it is traditionally worn visibly at the top of the stocking when dressed in Highland attire, signifying friendship and a lack of malicious intent.
It is important to note that the Sgian Dubh should not be perceived as a weapon, either historically or in contemporary use!
With over 43 years of experience in the Scottish Clan crest business, our company proudly creates Clan jewelry for the children and grandchildren of our first customers.
