SCOTTISH CLAN CREST HIGHER QUALITY SGIAN DUBH

Introducing the exquisite Sgian Dubh, crafted by The Sgian Dubh Company in Scotland, recognized as the premier quality sgian dubh available today. Each piece comes elegantly packaged in a luxurious blue presentation box, proudly labeled as "Made in Scotland."

This stunning Sgian Dubh, a traditional Scottish knife featuring a black handle, is customizable with your Clan crest, available in both lead-free pewter and fine sterling silver. We cater to all Clans with our top-of-the-line Sgian Dubh, which is beautifully presented in a blue box. Constructed from durable materials, the handle and sheath are made from a robust resin with plated metal fittings. In contrast, an antique "genuine" sgian dubh adorned with sterling silver fittings can fetch over $1,000.00. We offer these exquisite pieces upon request.

Measuring 7 1/2” (190 mm) in length and 1 3/8” (35 mm) in width, this new Sgian Dubh features a stainless steel blade complemented by nickel silver plated fittings. The top is adorned with a stunning imitation glass stone available in blue sapphire, emerald green, or purple amethyst. Choose your preferred color when placing your order.

The Clan crest is elegantly encircled by an intricate belt and buckle design, which showcases your clan motto in raised relief lettering. Each Sgian Dubh is meticulously handcrafted with exceptional detail in sterling silver. The Clan Crest measures 11/16" (19.5 mm) in diameter. Historically, the chief of the Clan would present his crest to clansmen as a mark of loyalty and Clan affiliation.

Please be aware that this item is made to order and may take a few days to complete. We proudly offer designs for every Clan.

THE ORIGIN OF THE "SGIAN DUBH"

The term Sgian Dubh, which translates from Gaelic to "Black Knife," is believed to have originated from the knife’s dark appearance. Historically, handles were often hand-carved from black bog wood, and the blades would darken over time through use and aging. Another theory suggests that the name derives from the concealed nature of the weapon, which is why it is customary to wear the Sgian Dubh visibly on top of the stocking while donning Highland attire, signaling that its wearer is among friends and harbors no ill intent.

It is important to note that the Sgian Dubh was never intended to be viewed as a weapon!
