SCOTTISH CLAN CREST SGIAN DUBH

This exquisite Sgian Dubh, a traditional Scottish knife featuring a distinctive black handle, can be customized with your Clan crest crafted from lead-free pewter or fine sterling silver.

Measuring 7-1/2 inches in length and 1-3/8 inches in width, this newly designed Sgian Dubh boasts a stainless steel blade complemented by nickel silver-plated fittings. At the top, you can choose from a stunning imitation topaz, sapphire blue, or emerald green synthetic stone.

The Clan crest is beautifully encircled by an intricate belt and buckle motif, inscribed with your clan motto in raised relief lettering. Historically, the chief of the Clan would present his crest to the clansmen as a mark of loyalty and Clan identity. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted in sterling silver, with the Clan Crest measuring 11/16" (19.5mm) in diameter.

Kindly note that this item is made to order and typically requires less than a few days for completion. All Clan designs are available. To personalize your order, please include your Clan name in the comments section during checkout. While this Sgian Dubh is well-crafted, the handle and sheath are made from resin, and the fittings are plated. In contrast, a genuine vintage Sgian Dubh with sterling silver fittings can exceed $1,000. This model is an economical alternative.

THE ORIGIN OF THE "SGIAN DUBH"
The term Sgian Dubh, which means Black Knife in Gaelic, is believed to have originated from the knife's dark appearance; early handles were often carved from black bog wood, and the blade would darken with age and use.
Another theory suggests that the name stems from the stealthy nature of a concealed weapon, which is why it is traditionally worn visibly at the top of the stocking while donning Highland attire, signaling that the wearer is among friends and harbors no malicious intent.
It is important to note that the Sgian Dubh has never been intended to be viewed as a weapon!
