SCOTTISH CLAN CREST SGIAN DUBH

Introducing the exquisite Sgian Dubh, a traditional Scottish knife featuring a black handle, elegantly adorned with your Clan crest crafted in lead-free pewter or fine sterling silver.

This exceptional Sgian Dubh measures 7-1/2” in length and 1-3/8” in width, showcasing a stainless steel blade complemented by nickel silver-plated fittings. At the top, choose from a stunning imitation topaz, sapphire blue, or emerald green synthetic stone to enhance its beauty.

The Clan crest is beautifully encircled by an intricate belt and buckle design, with your clan motto elegantly inscribed in raised relief lettering. Historically, Clan chiefs would present their crest to clansmen as a symbol of loyalty and Clan identity. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted in high detail, with the Clan Crest measuring 11/16" (19.5mm) in diameter.

Please be aware that this item is made to order, typically taking just a few days to complete. We can accommodate any Clan, so don't forget to specify your Clan name in the comment section when placing your order. While this Sgian Dubh is crafted to a high standard, the handle and sheath are made from resin, and the fittings are plated. In comparison, an authentic old Sgian Dubh with sterling silver fittings can exceed $1,000.00, making this Sgian Dubh a more economical option.

THE ORIGIN OF THE "SGIAN DUBH"
The term Sgian Dubh, translating to "Black Knife" in Gaelic, is believed to derive from the dark appearance of the knife itself, as early handles were often carved from black bog wood, with blades darkening over time through use and age.
An alternative theory suggests that the name refers to the weapon's easily concealed nature, which is why it has become customary to display the Sgian Dubh at the top of the stocking while wearing Highland attire—indicating that the wearer is among friends and harbors no ill intentions.
It is essential to note that the Sgian Dubh was never intended to be a weapon.
