SCOTTISH CLAN CREST SGIAN DUBH

Introducing the exquisite Sgian Dubh, a traditional Scottish knife featuring a striking black handle, now available with your Clan crest crafted in lead-free pewter or fine sterling silver.

This stunning Sgian Dubh measures 7-1/2 inches in length and 1-3/8 inches in width, boasting a stainless steel blade complemented by nickel silver-plated fittings. At the top, you can choose from an array of synthetic stones, including an imitation topaz, sapphire blue, or emerald green.

The intricately designed Clan crest is encircled by a detailed belt and buckle motif, showcasing your clan motto in raised relief. Historically, the Clan chief would present this crest to his clansmen, serving as a symbol of loyalty and Clan affiliation. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted with high attention to detail in sterling silver, with the Clan Crest measuring 11/16" (19.5mm) in diameter.

Please be aware that this item is made to order, typically completed in just a few days. All Clans are available for customization. To finalize your special order, simply include your Clan name in the comments section when placing your order. While this Sgian Dubh is crafted with care, please note that the handle and sheath are made of resin, and the fittings are plated. A genuine antique Sgian Dubh with sterling silver fittings can exceed $1,000.00, making this an economical choice.

THE ORIGIN OF THE "SGIAN DUBH"
The name Sgian Dubh, translating to "Black Knife" in Gaelic, likely reflects the knife's dark appearance—historically, handles were often carved from black bog wood, and the blade would darken over time through use. Another theory suggests it derives from the weapon's concealed nature, which is why it is traditionally worn visibly at the top of the stocking while donning Highland attire, signifying that the wearer is among friends and holds no malicious intent.
Importantly, the Sgian Dubh should never be regarded as a weapon!
