The Sgian Dubh measures 7 1/2” (190 mm) in length and 1 3/8” (35 mm) in width, featuring a stainless steel blade and nickel silver-plated fittings. The top is adorned with a choice of imitation glass stones: blue sapphire, emerald green, or purple amethyst. Please select your preferred color when ordering.
The Clan crest is set against a detailed belt and buckle design, with your Clan motto inscribed in raised relief lettering. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted, with the Clan Crest measuring 11/16" (19.5 mm) in diameter. Historically, Clan chiefs presented their crests to Clansmen as symbols of loyalty and Clan affiliation.

The Origin of the Sgian Dubh
The name "Sgian Dubh" (Gaelic for "Black Knife") likely stems from the knife's dark appearance, with early handles carved from black bog wood and blades darkening with age and use. Another theory suggests it refers to the concealed nature of the weapon, which is why it is traditionally worn in the stocking to signal friendship and a lack of ill intent. The Sgian Dubh should always be seen as a symbol, not a weapon.
