**The Origin of the "Sgian Dubh"**

The term "Sgian Dubh," which translates to "Black Knife" in Gaelic, likely stems from its historically dark appearance. Early versions featured handles carved from black bog wood, and the blades would naturally darken over time. Another interpretation suggests that the name denotes the concealed nature of this traditional weapon, typically worn tucked into the top of the stocking as a sign of goodwill and trust among friends.

It's important to note that the Sgian Dubh was never intended to be used as a weapon.

With over 43 years of experience in the Scottish Clan crest industry, we are dedicated to crafting Clan jewelry that will be cherished for generations, ensuring that each piece embodies our commitment to quality and tradition.
