Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, this traditional Scottish black-handled knife is available with your Clan crest in lead-free pewter or fine sterling silver. Brand new and measuring 7-1/2” long by 1-3/8” wide, it features a stainless steel blade and nickel silver-plated fittings. The top is adorned with an imitation topaz, sapphire blue, or emerald green synthetic stone for added elegance.
The Clan crest, surrounded by a detailed belt and buckle design, bears your Clan motto in raised relief lettering, echoing ancient traditions where the Clan chief presented the crest to their Clansmen as a symbol of loyalty and affiliation. Each piece is exquisitely handcrafted in high detail in sterling silver, with the Clan Crest measuring 11/16" (19.5mm) in diameter.
Please note that while this item is made to order, it typically requires only a few days for completion. With every Clan available, simply add your Clan name in the comment area when ordering to complete your special order.
It's important to note that while this Sgian Dubh is expertly crafted, the handle and sheath are made of resin material, and the fittings are plated. As such, it is considered an economy model. Genuine old Sgian Dubhs with sterling silver fittings can sell for over $1,000.00.
The name "Sgian Dubh," Gaelic for "Black Knife," likely stems from the knife's dark appearance, with early handles often carved from black bog wood. Another theory suggests it comes from the dark or sinister nature of an easily concealed weapon, though it's traditionally worn openly in the top of the stocking during Highland attire to show goodwill.
Our company, with over forty years in the Scottish Clan crest business, continues to provide Clan jewelry for the descendants of our first customers, ensuring that tradition and heritage endure for generations to come.
