The Scottish Clan Crest Sgian Dubh offers a blend of tradition and craftsmanship, providing a beautiful accessory with a deep connection to Scottish heritage. Available in lead-free pewter or fine sterling silver, this traditional Scottish black-handled knife is adorned with your Clan crest.
Measuring 7-1/2” long by 1-3/8” wide, it features a stainless steel blade and nickel silver-plated fittings. The top is embellished with an imitation topaz, sapphire blue, or emerald green synthetic stone for added elegance.
Surrounding the Clan crest is a detailed belt and buckle design, with the clan motto inscribed in raised relief lettering, symbolizing loyalty and Clan affiliation. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted in high detail in sterling silver, with the Clan Crest measuring 11/16" (19.5mm) in diameter.
Although made to order, production time is minimal, taking only a few days. Every Clan is available, and customers can specify their Clan name in the comment area when ordering.
It's important to note that while this Sgian Dubh is very well made, the handle and sheath are made of resin material, and the fittings are plated. However, it offers excellent value compared to genuine old Sgian Dubhs with sterling silver fittings, which can sell for over $1,000. This model is considered an economy option.
The origins of the name "Sgian Dubh," Gaelic for Black Knife, are traced back to its dark appearance, either from black bog wood handles or the dark nature of its easily concealed blade. Despite its historical association with weaponry, the Sgian Dubh is not and should not be considered a weapon. It's a symbol of tradition and camaraderie, traditionally worn in the top of the stocking during Highland attire to signify peaceful intent among friends.
With over forty years of experience in the Scottish Clan crest business, the company takes pride in providing Clan jewelry for generations, reflecting a long-standing commitment to quality and heritage.
