Clan Pollock

History
The Pollock family takes its name from the lands of Pollock in Renfrewshire, Scotland. The family descends from Fulbert de Polloc, a knight who came to Scotland with Walter FitzAlan, the High Steward of Scotland, in the 12th century. Fulbert and his descendants were granted lands by King David I and served faithfully as vassals to the Stewart family.
Throughout Scottish history, the Pollocks were known for their bravery and loyalty, particularly during the Wars of Independence, when they supported Robert the Bruce. Their devotion to crown and country earned them honor and respect throughout the Lowlands.

Clan Crest and Motto
The Pollock clan crest features a wild boar pierced with arrows, symbolizing strength, endurance, and unyielding courage.
The motto is “Audacter et Strenue,” meaning “Boldly and Earnestly.” It reflects the fearless and determined character of the Pollock family through generations.

Clan Septs
The principal surname is Pollock, with common variations including Pollok, Pollack, and Polloc. These names share the same ancient origin in Renfrewshire and often appear in records of service to the Stewart line.

Clan Tartan
The Pollock tartan is a distinguished blend of dark green, navy, and red, crossed with fine white lines.
It represents the clan’s strength, resolve, and loyalty — a true reflection of their motto: Boldly and Earnestly.
